An original score for Shadows On The Wind, a Firefly fan film that I signed on to do way back in 2014. A lot of the themes of the film have been kicking around since then, but this turned into a quarantine project for everyone after the film's lengthy production/post phase. All this music was composed during the latter half of 2020, and was the first film I've done in quite some time. Felt good to get back in the saddle.

I was experimenting with trying get the most out of a small palette of colors and textures, making things more other-worldly and as much a part of the scenery as a traditional score. Given more or less free reign to do what I wanted (a rarity in film scoring), here's the end result.

While it's a pastiche of a lot of things I listened to/watched over the past 8 years, this score owes an equal debt of gratitude to Mass Effect's whole deal, and stargazing upstate at the end of summer, splayed out under the entire sky with more stars than I've ever seen before while 65daysofstatic played in the background. For a child who longed to reach the stars and understand the universe, this brings me a little step closer.
